Memorial Day

Happy crazy sale day!!  We're going to be hitting the thrift stores later (after we see Indiana Jones) to get Toby some more work clothes.

Good thing we had our B-B-Q last night, cause it's raining and wet out there today.
This picture is of my nephew Korbin giving a "Korbin kiss". Consider yourself lucky if you get on of those.  Aiden gets them all the time :)
Last night we went and checked out our new apartment to get     some ideas for
painting and to see if we could do dish TV instead of time warner since it's so much cheaper.

And then we grilled behind Ellie's aparment.  The grills out there are pretty nice and there's lots of trees for the shade.
And here's Aiden playing with his favorite toy: his feet!!  He's reaching for things now much better than before too.
Speaking of Little Guy, he's now sleeping 11-12hrs at night all by myself!!  Big man.  And his naps are getting more and more regular too.  I just wish they were longer.  They ususally only last about an hour.

in Austin

We have safely arrived in Austin. The car trip wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be. Aiden slept in the car quite a bit and when he wasn't sleeping one of us sat in back with him and kept him entertained. The longest drive (12 hrs from Kansas City to Austin) was the easiest I thought.
The first drive on Friday was terrible. We had planned to leave at 3:30pm and didn't leave until almost 7pm. And that was after a long day of packing and dealing with movers (Toby) and for me nannying two babies all day and saying good-bye to our friends. Needless to say we didn't make it very far. By 10pm we had stopped at a hotel for the night.
In Kansas City we got to stay with my fairy Godmother Safia. We had a B-B-Q and hung out on her new patio/deck she had built last year. My friend Jessica came over with her kiddos. And the next day we saw the Warrens. Emma made me a beautiful photo book to keep photos of Aiden in. And in the afternoon we drove up to Lawrence to see Michael and Caleb.
All-in-all it was a really nice stay in KC.
Since we've been here we've been busy. Toby applied to three places and pretty much got offered a job at all three. One of them was pretty intense, so he opted to go with the more flexible restaurant, since I'm working regular hours during the week all summer and he's sort of stuck with the kiddo.
Aiden is doing well. He just turned 4 months, so we're transitioning into a routine sleep schedule and nap schedule and teaching him to self-soothe (i.e. cry till he falls asleep). That sucks! But all the books say to do it cause it's better for him too... so we're doing it :)
He's also started to try some solid foods. Rice cereal mainly. He doesn't seem too interested in it yet. That's ok. We're just going to keep giving him a little every morning till he gets the hang of it.
He went swimming for the first time yesterday with his cousin Korbin who was also swimming for the first time. Aiden wailed when I put his first little toe in the water, but once he got adjusted to the coldness, it was pretty fun. Korbin seemed to do much better and was playing in the little floaty thing and let Ellie dunk him underwater.

Happy Mother's Day!

Aiden slept in this morning! He didn't wake up until 7am. Usually he's up at 5 or 5:30am. It's like he knew he was giving me a treat. He even had a soaking wet diaper and stayed in bed that long. What a sweetie-pie.
Aiden's cousin Addison and Aunt Stephanie are visiting.

Yesterday we all went to the zoo to look at all the animals. It got a little colder than we had all been anticipating, so we had to wear blankets. All-in-all it was a lovely day though. Aiden just hung out in the front pack and looked around. He noticed a few animals, but mostly just liked being outside.

This morning Toby made us ladies a huge breakfast, and then I took a beautifully long nap. It was heavenly really. We talked to all the Mom's on skype. Uncle Jared even skyped us from Iraq. And we talked to cousin Katrina and Aunt Beth and Uncle Scott too.
We're moving on Friday already, so we're busy packing and selling stuff. Lots to do.

tummy time

He rolled over today for the first time ever. Right after bath time! I laid him on his tummy to put lotion on his back and I guess he decided that he wanted to be on his back to practice his air-kicks. So he just rolled over.
Until recently (yesterday) Aiden has seriously protested against "tummy time". As I was nannying yesterday, I realized though that he is a little behind on the head lifting off the floor, so I've implemented this time several times a day now, and he's doing great. Once he gets upset he really starts to lift his head.

He's also moved into 3-6 month clothes. I had to pack up all the newborn and 0-3 mths. I kept some of them, the ones that were just too cute, since we might have another one some day. One never knows.
He sucks on his fist and his fingers all the time now. Only uses the pacifier to fall asleep for naps, then he spits it out, and he never uses it at night. This is good because we didn't want him to have a crisis when we remove that sucker pretty soon!

Bachelor Party

Last night was Toby's Bachelor Party. We decided to do a pretty low-key event, so we ended up bar-b-queing at Missy's house. Michael and Curtis organized the party. Michael was our grill-chef and he fired up some fantastic steaks, salmon and asparagus. Yummy time. And we sat around and talked.

I brought Aiden thinking he'd enjoy interacting with everyone till 8pm (his usual bedtime is around 7:30pm), but he passed out in the car and was a limp rag-doll for the party-see picture above. So Missy and I sink-bathed him and put him down on her bed. We headed out at 11pm to leave the boys some good drinking time since I knew one of us would need to be up with Aiden bright and early.

He's sleeping 8-9hrs at night in a chunk, which is AWESOME.... but he's done sleeping around 5am, which is really NOT awesome. In fact, this morning it was 4:30am. I drink so much coffee these days it's unbelievable.

The picture on the far left is Michael holding up a nice steak he's about to fry up and the one in the middle is Eric and Toby.
